The Punta Gorda Public Library renovations have been completed. The furniture and book collection have been moved back into the premises. There are a children’s room, reference library, non-fiction and fiction areas for adults. A computer lab is awaiting computers.
A Friends of the Library Committee will be volunteering to work with local school children on reading and writing skills, homework and games night.
On February 12th, the library held a book sale. Many local people browsed and bought all kinds of books. The library made over 300bzd.
The lecture series will be presenting the first 2011 event, the Garifuna Reserve: The history of the St. Vincent’s Block, on Sunday, February 27th. Members of various committees associated with the Block will be present to discuss this vital issue.
The library has ambitious plans for lectures, literacy projects, film evenings and adult outreach. It can use your help funding computers, audio visual equipment, children’s furniture and other needed equipment.
